How does the ceiling radiant heating system work?
Thanks to the low operating temperatures, the radiant system works mainly by radiation and only secondarily by convection.
Heat is therefore "radiated" from the active surface towards all objects that are "facing" that surface.
The most basic example—used in many publications—is that of the sun, which heats us exclusively by radiation. A less abstract but equally intuitive example is that of an incandescent lamp installed on the ceiling: standing under it, you can clearly feel the heat it radiates toward your body.
The fact that heat is also partially transmitted by convection is the reason why the radiant ceiling is less efficient in heating and more efficient in cooling (hot air rises while cold air falls), compared to the same system installed on the floor.
