3. If you have a radiant system with a screed, is it better to switch it off when you are out of the house for several hours or not?

This question would deserve a specific in-depth study, linked to many factors; let us simplify by saying that, in the case of the presence of screeds and therefore of systems with a high thermal inertia and considering a continuous use of the building, the best solution is to keep the system running at all times, modulating the delivery temperature and the flow rate in the various circuits according to the desired room temperature and set on the probes/thermostats.

This allows you to greatly optimise switching the heating generator on and off.

In the absence of temperature control of this type, the ideal is to set a temperature attenuation level (what is generally called the 'economy range' on a programmable thermostat) at most a couple of degrees lower than the comfort range, with a time schedule that takes into account the reaction times of the building/plant system.
