2. Is cement screed better than self-levelling?
The answer would be long and articulated, as would the 'world' of screeds and so-called self-levelling.
Since RBM does not specialise in this type of artefact, we recommend that you make the appropriate enquiries directly with those who produce and make the screeds.
However, let us try to briefly summarise and give an initial indication, quoting the standard: "A 'traditional sand-cement' screed generally has a greater minimum thickness than a self-levelling screed."
Therefore, in addition to the certification issues of the different products, a first discriminating factor is the different overall thickness of the finished underfloor system and consequently the reaction time of the building/plant system, i.e. the speed at which the radiant underfloor system starts or stops heating or cooling the rooms in which it is installed.
