Does water hammer also occur when the valve intended to be installed on the radiator supply is mistakenly installed on the return? Is a vibration perceived during throttling?
In this case, the vibrations are not due to water hammer, but rather to the shape of the valve which, due to resonance phenomena or simple “fluttering” of the shutter seals, can cause the noise in question.
The shutter is in fact subject to the passage of a certain amount of water at specific speeds and in the opposite direction to that for which the valve was designed, which leads to the creation of vibrations and consequent noise from the valve itself.
