What are the solutions for managing pressure variations in systems?

There are various devices designed to prevent the harmful effects of overpressure within hydraulic systems: each has its own function and a specific connection.

The expansion vessel serves to keep the system pressure constant by absorbing changes in the volume of water, both positive and negative, depending on temperature variations.

The fact that in certain cases it may also be able to absorb water hammer is a positive “side effect,” but it is not always sufficient.

We specify that there are many situations in which the expansion vessel, unlike a water hammer arrester, cannot be physically installed due to space constraints (for example, in domestic environments, where this device is present only on the closed circuit side of the heat generator and where there is no space to install it also on the side reserved for domestic water).

There are also situations in which, despite the presence of the expansion vessel, perhaps due to the considerable distance between it and some delivery points, the water hammer phenomenon is still present.

In these circumstances, the anti-water hammer device—thanks to its extremely small size and the fact that it can be installed as close as possible to the problematic outlet tap—can be the ideal solution.
